Heavy guitar riff driven tracks in the vein of Black Label Society, Alice in Chains and the mighty Motörhead! Kill Star is a musical outlet for New Orleans multi instrumentalist, engineer, and producer, Derek Dufresne and Canadian vocalist Derek "Purple" Gerbrand and drummer Josh Gray
The band is currently in the studio recording the long awaited third album with a release scheduled for 2022.
Originally conceived as a writing project, multi instrumentalist, Derek D reached out to old friend and vocalist, Purple, to collaborate on his vast collection of material. It started as emailing tracks back and forth until the demo tapes were done. Then they enlisted a guitarist and drummer(Derek D's former bandmates, Brent Andres and Josh Gray) to perform a few shows and tighten up the material before recording the first album, Threshold
A handful of shows lead to a short Canadian tour to support the album.
Early in the recording of the second album Love Suicide Machine , Brent parted ways with the band and special guest guitarists were brought in to complete the project.
The core band still features drummer Josh Gray, Vocalist Derek "Purple" Gerbrand and Derek D on bass, lead and rhythm guitars, keyboards, vox and more.
Threshold was primarily recorded by Shane Ward at Platinum Gold Studios, in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. Additional recording, produced, and edited by Derek Dufresne. Final mix by Eric Mosher at The Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, BC
Love Suicide Machine was almost entirely recorded, produced, and edited by Derek Dufresne. Additional recording by Shane Ward. Final mix by Eric Mosher at The Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, BC
