after some flight delays Derek finally arrived into a classic Winnipeg blizzard!

Got down to the photo shoot and had a blast doing the shoot with Dave Swiecicki ( Jet Set Satellite)

Finally meet up at a hotel room at the club. This would be our first time all of us in the same room in more then 10 years. We quickly run through each song once guitars unplugged playing along to the tracks on computer. Concentrating on a few key tricky parts. Obviously, this is the first time we have ever played these songs together.
10:50
To the club for 11pm showtime. Show pushed back to 11:30. That's fine, time to hang with people who braved the blizzard to see us. Including Dave who would photograph us throughout the show.

Well I wish I could say the set went off without a hitch. But of course it didn't. This was, after all, the first time we had played together! There were a few minor issues, compounded by the fact that our monitors and back up microphones didn't work! With the monitors out, it's like playing blind. Or deaf, if you will. Everyone did the best they could with what we were left with. And we rose to the complications and overcame them knocking out a powerful ( and somewhat solid!) set. Winning first place! Did I mention this was a "Battle of the Bands" type gig?
It felt great being onstage with these guys. It felt very natural like we knew what eachother were thinking before they did it. Like we had been playing together for ages. Definitely did not feel like a first rehearsal! The bottom line is we had a blast and got to play our music for a live audience and get their feedback. Which was all very positive btw. Most people not noticing our missteps. I guess you truly are your worst critic. Now with our first show, and win, under our belts, on to bigger things.
